Temimus doesn’t mean to act naïvely with people.
Holy temimus is the deep place in our soul which lives with Hashem – only with Hashem a person should act with temimus, but not with people. The outer part of your soul should be suspicious towards people and not be trusting of people, but the inner part of your soul accepts that all is from Hashem. For example if someone lies to you, you tell yourself that this is the will of Hashem that you were lied to, and not that the person lied to you. In this way you never even “meet” people because you are always living with Hashem even as you have to deal with people.
So when you talk to people you should realize that Hashem is talking to you through others, just as when Esther spoke to Achashveirosh she was talking to Hashem and she viewed him as the voice of Hashem talking to her through him. Don’t think that you are talking to Reuven when you are talking to Reuven. In that deep place in your soul there are these two points: live with Hashem yet suspect people.
When you get deceived tell yourself that it’s all from Hashem.
